A Strong Start, A Story, and Thank You!
Reformed Film Lab is open for business and it’s been an amazing start. I wanted to offer everyone a quick backstory on the lab and where I hope to take it in the future!
The mission of Reformed Film Lab is to offer high quality film development and scans for the film reformation taking place in the world of photography. About a year ago, my wife and I discussed the idea of opening a film lab and what we would call it. The word reformation came to mind as we discussed how film was making a come back. Many veteran photographers were going back to film and younger photographers were discovering film for the first time. Reformed Film Lab was born that night, well the idea at least.
Fast forward to January of 2020 and I started purchasing film scanners and a couple of film processors for the lab. Delivery of the machines took place in late February early March. I planned to open up then, but COVID-19 was ramping up causing delay. From March to May, I went part time at my day job to focus on building the site and getting things fine tuned for opening. Despite the set back in opening up, it was a blessing to have the extra time to convert our garage into a 400 square foot working lab. Huge shout out to my dad for making that a reality! With the renovation complete and June nearly over, it was time to open.
Two months in and I’ve processed nearly 200 orders for customers. It’s been a phenomenal start and I’m humbled and grateful for all support and feedback I’ve received from customers.
What’s next? An discount offer of course! If you haven’t ordered yet, you can use the coupon code “1storder” to receive 10% off your first order.
One more time, thank you very much for supporting the lab. Long live film!
Cheers!
Mike
